This blog will explore the key takeaways and announcements from Sivasubramanian’s keynote. We will highlight the transformative role of convergence in technologies to drive innovation and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Scaling ML Training with Amazon SageMaker

At the anticipated yearly event, Dr. Swami shared some exciting updates on how Amazon SageMaker is making it easier and faster to scale machine learning training. Here’s a look at what was announced.

Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Flexible Training Plans

Dr. Swami introduced Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Flexible Training Plans, a groundbreaking capability that simplifies and accelerates ML training. By defining compute requirements and desired training timelines, data scientists can automate the process of capacity reservation, cluster setup, and model training. HyperPod leverages Amazon EC2 Capacity Blocks to create optimal training plans, reducing manual effort and accelerating model readiness. With efficient checkpointing and automatic resumption, HyperPod ensures uninterrupted training, even in the face of instance interruptions.

Amazon SageMaker HyperPod Task Governance

This amazing task governance service simplifies the management of complex Generative AI workloads. By automating the prioritization and allocation of compute resources, it maximizes utilization and reduces costs by up to 40%. With this solution, you can define priorities for various tasks, set resource limits, and monitor resource utilization in real-time. HyperPod ensures that high-priority tasks are completed on time, while optimizing the use of accelerated compute resources across your organization.

AI Apps from AWS Partners Available in Amazon SageMaker AI

According to Dr. Swami, AWS is expanding the SageMaker AI app ecosystem to provide customers with a seamless and fully managed experience for deploying specialized machine learning and Generative AI applications. By integrating these partner apps into SageMaker, customers can accelerate model development, leverage advanced AI capabilities, and ensure data security and privacy. This integration simplifies the process of deploying and managing AI applications, eliminating the need for infrastructure provisioning and management.

Revolutionizing Generative AI with Amazon Bedrock

Another exciting highlight from Dr. Swami’s announcement is the game-changing advancements with Amazon Bedrock, designed to push the boundaries of Gen AI. With these new features, developers can now unlock even more powerful and customizable AI models. Here’s a breakdown of the key innovations setting the stage for the next wave of AI applications.

poolside FM Being Added to Amazon Bedrock

poolside, a foundation model provided by a renowned startup specializing in software development AI for large enterprises, is set to join the Amazon Bedrock platform. This integration will grant developers access to poolside’s powerful AI assistants, Malibu and Point, renowned for their prowess in code generation, testing, documentation, and other development tasks.

As the first cloud provider to offer access to poolside, AWS is paving the way for innovative AI-powered software development. With Amazon Bedrock, developers can seamlessly leverage poolside’s capabilities to streamline their workflows and accelerate development cycles.

Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion 3.5 FM Being Added to Amazon Bedrock

During his keynote, Dr. Swami shared exciting news about Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion 3.5 foundation model being added to Amazon Bedrock. This advanced text-to-image model, trained on Amazon SageMaker HyperPod, can generate stunning, high-quality images from text descriptions. Whether it’s for conceptual art, visual effects prototyping, or detailed product imagery, this model accelerates creativity and is designed for seamless deployment at scale.

Luma AI Coming to Amazon Bedrock

Dr. Swami also announced that Luma AI’s visual AI multimodal foundation models will be available on Amazon Bedrock. This groundbreaking technology empowers users to generate high-quality, realistic videos from text and images with incredible speed and efficiency. Amazon Bedrock customers will be the first to access Luma’s latest model, Luma Ray2, which offers advanced text-to-image and text-to-video generation capabilities. This integration will revolutionize video creation and open up new possibilities for content creators and businesses alike.

Amazon Bedrock Marketplace

One of the announcements we were most excited about was the launch of the Amazon Bedrock Marketplace. Dr. Swami shared that this platform provides access to over 100 specialized foundation models from top providers, all available through a unified console. These models can be accessed via Bedrock’s unified APIs, and those compatible with Bedrock’s Converse APIs can seamlessly integrate with tools like Agents, Knowledge Bases, and Guardrails. This new capability is now generally available, bringing enhanced flexibility and security to model deployment.

Amazon Bedrock Prompt Caching

In the keynote, he also introduced a game-changing feature in Amazon Bedrock: Prompt Caching. This capability enables customers to cache frequently used prompts, significantly reducing both response latency and costs. By skipping token reprocessing for repeated prompts, users can lower costs by up to 90% and cut latency by as much as 85%. With simple integration through Bedrock APIs or the Playground UI, this feature offers powerful efficiency gains for supported models.

Amazon Bedrock Intelligent Prompt Routing

Another interesting announcement during the keynote was the release of Amazon Bedrock’s Intelligent Prompt Routing. This new feature makes it easier to route prompts to the best-suited foundational models based on your desired cost and latency thresholds. By automatically optimizing for cost and response quality, it can reduce your development costs by up to 30% and without sacrificing accuracy.

Amazon Kendra Generative AI Index

Imagine having an AI assistant that can access and understand your company’s vast amount of data. Well, now you can with Amazon Kendra Generative AI Index. This feature enables seamless integration with over 40 enterprise data sources such as SharePoint and Salesforce. Now, you can easily build AI-powered assistants using Kendra’s knowledge base and leverage it across multiple AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q Business, for even more dynamic use cases.

Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases Support Structured Data Retrieval

Dr. Swami also unveiled an exciting update to Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, which now supports Structured Data Retrieval. This enhancement makes it easier than ever to connect and query structured data, whether it’s in SageMaker, Lakehouse, Amazon Redshift, or even the newly released Amazon S3 Tables with Iceberg support. With just natural language, you can now retrieve data directly from these sources, automatically generating SQL queries. This fully managed, out-of-the-box solution simplifies building Gen AI apps, improves query accuracy, and drastically reduces development time, unlocking powerful new use cases for AI-driven applications.

Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases Support GraphRAG

We’re excited to share a game-changing feature introduced at re:Invent: Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases now supports GraphRAG. This new capability automatically generates knowledge graphs using Amazon Neptune which links relationships across various data sources. This not only simplifies the process of building comprehensive and explainable Gen AI apps but also improves the accuracy of responses through a single API call. With this update, we can now create more relevant and reliable AI applications without requiring deep graph expertise, enhancing both explainability and fact verification.

Amazon Bedrock Data Automation

Imagine being able to automatically transform unstructured, multimodal content into structured data—without writing a single line of code. That’s exactly what Dr. Swami introduced with Amazon Bedrock Data Automation. Think of it as a Gen AI-powered ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tool that can handle complex data sources such as documents, images, and videos.

With a simple API, we can generate custom outputs, parse multimodal content for Gen AI apps, and load it directly into analytics workflows. It also helps reduce the risk of hallucinations by providing confidence scores and grounding responses in the original content.
